Privacy Policy
Effective August 27, 2026 · Corefinder, a sole proprietorship registered in British Columbia, operating as ClaimShift
Corefinder, a sole proprietorship registered in British Columbia (“ClaimShift”, “we”) operates a service that maps British Columbia mineral tenures and summarizes the public assessment reports filed against them. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and how you can see it, correct it, or have it removed. We handle personal information under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies to us, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1.Information you give us
There are only two places you can hand us personal information.
- The Ground Report mailing list. Your email address, the page you subscribed from, and the times you subscribed, confirmed, and unsubscribed. We keep the timestamps as our record that you consented, which anti-spam law requires us to be able to show.
- Tenure listings. If you offer ground for option, lease, joint venture or sale, we collect the tenure number, your name, your email, the deal types you are open to, and any notes you write.
We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, government identifiers, or anything else beyond the above.
2.Tenure holder names from the public registry
This section matters more than the rest, so we have not buried it. Our map displays mineral tenure records published by the Province of British Columbia through DataBC, including the name of the recorded holder. Where a holder is an individual rather than a company, that name is personal information, and we did not get it from you.
We limit what we do with it, deliberately:
- We show the holder name as the registry publishes it, for the purpose the registry serves — letting people identify who holds a tenure.
- We do not compile holder contact details, cross-reference holders against other databases to build profiles, sell or export holder lists, or infer anything about a holder’s circumstances or intentions.
- A tenure is never shown as available for option or sale unless its holder has told us so and we have confirmed they hold it. We do not treat an approaching expiry date as a signal that ground is for sale.
If you are an individual tenure holder and would rather your name not appear on this site, write to milad@claimshift.ca and we will suppress it. We will not ask you to justify the request. Note we cannot change the underlying provincial registry — only what this site displays.
3.Information collected automatically
Our servers keep short-lived technical logs — IP address, request time, page requested, browser user agent — to keep the service running and to investigate abuse. We do not use these to build a profile of you.
We do not use a third-party analytics service or advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other sites.
We do keep our own usage log, on our own servers, to learn which pages and claims are used and whether people come back. It records the page you opened, the time, the domain of the site that linked you here (never the full address), any campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), and a random identifier that your browser stores in its local storage. That identifier is not a cookie, is not tied to your name or email address, and is not shared with anyone. Clearing this site’s data in your browser, or browsing in private mode, starts a new identifier. The newsletter provider’s attribution script on our pages also records the referring site and campaign tags so that a signup can be credited to where it came from.
4.How we use it
Subscriber emails are used only to send the Ground Report and to manage your subscription. Listing details are used to verify that you hold the tenure and to show your listing to people looking for ground. Logs are used for security and reliability. We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
We will never sell your personal information, and we will not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
5.Who else sees it
We use service providers who process information on our behalf and only on our instructions: Vercel (website) and Railway (application and database) for hosting and Resend (account emails) and Beehiiv (the Forfeiture Watch newsletter) for sending email. Some of these providers store data outside Canada, currently in the European Union (database) and the United States (email delivery); personal information is therefore stored and processed outside Canada, which means it may be accessible to the courts and law enforcement of that country. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
6.How long we keep it
Subscriber records are kept while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address and consent timestamps for a limited period afterwards so we can honour the unsubscribe and demonstrate that we did — then we delete them. Listing records are kept while the listing is active and for a reasonable period after it is withdrawn. Technical logs are kept briefly and then rotated out.
7.Your rights
Under PIPA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have disclosed it to. You may ask us to correct anything inaccurate. You may withdraw consent at any time — every Ground Report has an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw a listing by writing to us.
Our privacy officer is Milad Yazdi, milad@claimshift.ca. We aim to respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
8.Security
We keep the amount of personal information we hold small, which is the most effective protection available to us. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is limited to those who need it. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.
9.Changes
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and if the change is significant we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
